About us

Girlguiding Durham South covers the whole of the County Durham and Darlington area, with Divisions based in  Barnard Castle, Bishop Auckland, Chester-le-Street, Darlington, Durham, East Durham, Newton Aycliffe, Seaham, Sedgefield, Weardale and their surrounding villages.

Girlguiding Durham South aims to build girls’ confidence and raise their aspirations. We give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good. To date we have over 3000 members in the Durham South County from Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, The Senior Section and Trefoil Guild. Want to know more about each type of Section? Find out here.

As well as making friends and getting involved in your community, being a member of Girlguiding could take you anywhere in the world! Members from our County have been all over the world, including Kenya, India and Mexico.

For adults, there are always opportunities to get involved in assisting run a unit or becoming a supporter of the County in general. In return for your support you'll meet new people, develop skills and have fun!
