Darlington Stephenson is a large Division in the very south of the County.

The Division Commissioner is Denise Pearson, contact email is denisekp35@hotmail.com

The Division has 4 Districts Baydale:

  • District Commissioner Blackwell
  • District Commissioner - Julie Ross Parklands
  • District Commissioner - Carolyn McGuckin
  • Woodlands - District Commissioner - Carole Ridley and Fiona Ellwood

Between the 4 Districts we have 9 Rainbow units, 14 Brownie units, 9 Guide units and 1 Ranger unit making a total 33 very active units. Each week during term time we have a total of 50 hours of fun and challenging programmes of Guiding delivered to nearly 600 girls by 174 dedicated and enthusiastic, active members and volunteers.

Darlington Stephenson Division offers an abundance of quality opportunities and experiences to all its members, in a safe environment by sharing fun, friendship and fellowship.

2014 was a very special centenary year for Brownies as they celebrated with a whole host of varied events including sleepovers, parties, outings and challenges. The other sections also embraced the fun as they completed the Big Brownie Birthday Challenge. This was an opportunity to look back at our heritage and also look forward to the exciting future that Guiding holds for us all.

As part of the Big Brownie Birthday celebrations 62 members and friends flew to Disneyland Paris for a 4 day magical adventure. 120 members attended North East England's Starquest Spectacular day at Wetherby Racecourse.

To complement the varied and diverse programme of Guiding delivered during the weekly meeting, residentials for all sections have been offered. Day trips to the various cities, coast and countryside have also been held. 120 girls and adults travelled to London to attend the Big Gig, one of the most popular events in the Guiding calendar.

Members of The Senior Section have also travelled far and wide around the world. Three were selected to represent the County on a Regional trip to India. Another three were selected to participate in an Outward Bound Course and several led their peers on Queen's Guide Award Explorations to various destinations.

Darlington Stephenson Division lives up to the Guiding Promise by active involvement in the local community. Girls from all sections and adults participated in Darlington Community Carnival, Deliciously Darlington and Head of Steam. The Senior Section and adult members also had the pleasure of attending Proms in the Park and Remembrance Parades.

Fundraising through various events has raised much needed funds for unit sponsors, local and international charities. As a Division we are very fortunate to have the support of two Darlington Trefoil Guilds.
