About this Division

Division Commissioner: Joanne Lazenby

3 Rainbow Units (Bishop Middleham, Bishopton and Ferryhill)
6 Brownie Units (Bishop Middleham, Bishopton, Ferryhill, Fishburn and Sedgefield x 2)
2 Guide Units (Ferryhill and Sedgefield)

In 2015, Segdefield Division said goodbye to Linda Johnson and Carol Morrison who both stepped down as Leaders in charge after over 50 year service between them. We did, however, welcome Allison Barker, Wendy Lindley, Gemma Hill, Hannah Simpson and Toni Hockridge to the Division as Leaders in Training and Unit Helpers.

All our sections took part in a variety of guiding activities including a visit from Durham University’s Chemistry department who help the Brownies gain their Science Investigators Badge.

The girls enjoyed fun and games throughout the year with climbing, roller skating and trampolining some of the highlights. Bishop Middleham Brownies took part in local charity fundraising event with a colourful outcome.

All our sections also enjoyed a range of residential events from sleepovers (spooky and  otherwise) camp holiday and the Guides attended the annual Confido Camp at Moore House. Gemma Hill one of our young Leaders was lucky enough to be chosen to take part in an international event and went to Our Chalet in Switzerland with NEE.

The Division ended the year with our annual Christmas party.
Everyone enjoyed a Disco, games, crafts and a visit from Santa Claus himself! We were also honoured to take part in the NEE Christmas service at York Minster. Gemma Hill, Rebekah Watret and Emma Whaley provided a Colour Party to escort the Commissioner from Anglia into the service.

We are looking forward to an even better 2016 as Bishop Middleham Brownies found out that AAP have awarded them £6759.28 for their Brownie Healthy Challenge for 2016. This will include two residential weekends, first aid courses and completion of interest badges such as Healthy Heart, First Aid, Swimmer, Out & About and Agility.

Take a look at and Facebook to see what some of our Brownies and Guides have been up to recently.
