The day finally came for Jessica and the girls of 2nd Chester-Le-Street Brownies to go on the long awaited ‘Brownie Fest’ Holiday. Many girls were so excited, they got their parents up at 5am!
Months of planning and organising by Jess ensured that everything was sorted, from the decoration of the building to little gifts for the parents to keep them busy while they were at Moor House.
The day had finally come, with leaders welcoming 29 girls into Moor House Activity Centre. The parent’s dropped off very excited girls, ready for a festival themed weekend.
Starting off with ground rules and a fire drill, the Brownies then moved on to making bags to put all their crafts in. The Brownies then settled into their rooms, where they found a little surprise of a water bottle, hoodie and a lanyard of the exciting things that awaited them.
We had a lovely supper, cooked by the amazing camp chefs, Helen and Phillip then the girls relaxed during pamper themed night. PJs, facemasks and even a foot mask meant smiles all around from girls and leaders. What more could you want! The Brownies then relaxed, ready for the new challenges the next day.
At 8.30am all of the Brownies were full from an amazing breakfast of pancakes and croissants ready to start the day. The girls started with making flags and learning about different festivals that happen around the world, then had a fun time exploring the outdoor grounds of Moor House on a colour hunt and a little adventure in the woodland area.
A lovely tea of spaghetti bolognese was then followed by, what was a highlight for most girls, making their own t-shirt to wear at a party that evening.

Then after a fun fitness dance session, the girls had an hour rest to get ready for the neon party. Girls were able to get glitter tattoos and neon face paints. Everybody at Moor House was full of smiles ready to party the night away.
Girls were taking lots of photos in the photo booth as a reminder of the amazing Brownie Holiday that was nearing its end.
On the last morning at Moor House, there was a special birthday, Ava W turned the big 8! All the girls wished her a happy birthday and Ava’s breakfast was set out with an ‘8’ balloon, card and a present from the girls and not forgetting the special ‘8’ badge which she opened with delight.
A fantastic weekend was had by all, with a big shoutout to Jess for planning a lovely weekend where girls made friendships that will last a lifetime! Memories for years to come. Roll on the next holiday to Waddow in 2022.
