A camp to remember

On the weekend of the 30th June – 2nd July 2023, members from across Girlguiding Durham South came together for a camp all about the traditions of Guiding.

‘Ethel’s camp’ was organised in memory of a well known Durham South Guide Leader, who had been volunteering for nearly fifty years. Ethel loved all traditional aspects of Guiding which were included in the weekend – canvas tent pitching, knot tying, fire lighting, gadget making, campfire singing, to name a few.

Ethel had a lot of friends in Guiding and this weekend was an amazing opportunity for lots of units across the County to get together, for old friends to meet and for new friendships to be made.

It was a very busy and active weekend and everyone had a fab time. There have been lots of comments about how much everyone enjoyed the camp and a lot of units are now planning their next adventures.
