Over the next year, we are planning a nature conservation project at East Shotton, with thanks to a grant from Point North. This project will enable us to develop the outdoor environment for nature and ourselves to flourish together. As a committee we have worked hard during 2024 to clear the overgrowth and improve the appearance of the two outdoor areas that we have, (the large field and the grassed area in front of the barn) and its now ready to add new areas.
We have funding to plan 12 sessions over the year, for up to 30 people to take part in a gardening or wildlife activity.
We would like to involve all members of Girlguiding Durham South to help us to design both the outdoor area and a cloth badge for all units who take part in the project.
Badge design:
The badge must include – the trefoil, the words ‘Girlguiding Durham South East Shotton’ and be linked to nature – the rest is all your choice!
Nature plans:
We would like your designs and ideas to include raised beds, plants that encourage wildlife and insects, and anything else you can imagine that will help us to work in harmony with nature. This can be for the grassed area in front of the barn and/or the large field.
