During October and November 2017, twelve members of Girlguiding Durham South travelled to India to explore the sights, culture and to visit the Girlguiding World Centre – Sangam.
Starting the journey in Delhi exploring mosques and markets in both Old and New Delhi then moving on to Agra to see the magnificent Taj Mahal and Agra Fort before heading to Jaipur. More action packed days were packed into the trip including elephant rides up to the Amber Fort, visits to temples and mosques and even fit in watching part of a bollywood film!
Then it was time to travel to Pune to spend a week at the Girlguiding World Centre – Sangam. The event, Essence of India III, involved learning about the culture of India, visiting the local communities and we were privileged enough to attend the wedding celebrations of one of Sangam’s staff.
We even managed to squeeze in a final short trip to Mumbai to pick up plenty of souvenirs before heading home.
